I'm planning a trip from Chicago to Boulder, CO for a week-ish. 5-6 nights. I am driving, and have averaged the results between a few gas calculators and found that that will cost me $140-$160, round trip.

I'm allowing $70 for groceries that I think can last the whole week. I'm going to have access to some free lodging, and maybe will use airbnb and definitely some campgrounds. I figure with a High campground price of ~$20, and paying for maybe half the nights there, that will be aroung $50-$60.

Other than that I'm alloting $100 for other random expenses, including some smoke shops, and anywhere from $45-$75 for eating out maybe 3 times.

Bare in mind that this is all for 2 people. So the high total is around $500, the low around $400. That is more than I anticipated, and I think I can probably hammer it down if I have to.

Any perspective/suggestions?
