I live in japan and am changing cities, basically going 1 end of tokyo to the other, 140km.
i don't have much furniture but it would require 1 smallish truck and a japanese driver (i cant drive here). probably $1,000 at least due to huge distance.
the landlord company owns all the appliances so they stay.
i only have fairly cheap plastic furniture i need to move. 3 plastic dresser drawer things for clothing storage, 2 very narrow plastic food storage shelving, 1 heavy kitchen 'island' (shelves with a cutting board top), and a big clothes hanging pole for storing/hanging my suits.
the furniture definitely cost less than the moving truck fee will be (at the very worst $300). but ill also need to rebuy almost everything in my new city then. but even if i double the cost of the furniture ($600) it's surely less than the moving truck.
and its unlikely but possible i can sell the furniture used and recoup a tiny portion of that money.
what do you think i should do?
