I was downloading my W2 from a previous employer and noticed I had two of them for 2016. One of them is correct, and one of them has me listed as an employee at a company in a different state. I've been dealing with a stolen SSN and identity fraud for the better part of 2016, so I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised. Why would someone create a fake employee / W2 for ~$900? What purpose would that serve them?

What do I do here? Should I contact the (seemingly legitimate) company that I have been reported as an employee under to alert them? Do I contact the payroll company (ADP which goes to ridiculously great lengths to hide any way of contacting them), or just go to the IRS directly?
