Hello /r/frugal

My SO and I are moving from New Jersey to Southern California in July and are going through every possibility in terms of shipping our stuff.

  • Freight
  • Pods
  • Truck Rental
  • Airplane
  • Et cetera

The idea of buying a towing-capable truck and a trailer and then re-selling it seems to be a common frugal idea, but I cannot find a single personal anecdote anywhere on Frugal (or on Reddit, for that matter).

Trust me; I've tried searching through both Reddit and Google and I can't find a good story on someone who has done the trek with a trailer.

I'm just trying to explore every option. Obviously, we would want to do the most frugal thing, but with no experience driving with an attached trailer, something like that might end up being more expensive at the end of the day.

Any feedback would be appreciated.
