I have run into an unforeseen circumstance where I am now left with just $700, two cats, and a car.
This is due to a breakup and I am currently finishing my education. I do not qualify for any government assistance due to my classification as a student even though I am only taking 3 grad credit hours.
I no longer have housing and due to a full time (80 hour/week) unpaid internship I cannot work much in my off time, especially with school work on top of those hours. The internship is required to get my credentials, thus is a priority. Staying with family/friends is not an option. I have a phone bill of approximately $40 after taxes and gas just hit around $1.92 in my area. My car gets about 28 mpg and my commute is about 30 miles each way, 5 days a week.
What is the best way to live out the next few months until I get credentialed and can get a salaried job (starting is $40k in my area and I have a job lined up). I expect to be working by June/July so this is really only temporary.
I was thinking about living in my car, leaving the cats with the ex for now, and paying $10 a month for a planet fitness membership. It seems like the most money conscious choice but maybe I am missing something. Any and all advice is welcome.
TDLR; breakup left me with just $700 for the next 5-6 months, where do I go from here?
