Betterment recently increased its fees from 0.15% to 0.25%. Schwab lowered its expense ratios (temporarily?) to be even lower than Vanguard.

Nothing stops a financial institution or an ETF provider to change fees or expense ratios at their whim. How should one be prepared for that? ACAT is doable to deal with a fees hike but what if the expense ratio goes up. Selling all of an ETF might trigger a major tax event for some, specially, those whose portfolio consists of only a few ETFs.
