Just about 2 years ago my dad got rid of my old car that was in poor condition and wasn't running. It wasn't worth much and was in the way so he just gave it away to one of the many random workers that was working on our house (We were moving and he was fixing up the house so we could sell it). He didn't receive a bill of sale or anything along those lines. Fast forward to a month and a half ago - I get a call from Wilber and Associates Attorneys Office and they're telling me that my car was in a wreck last August. They know that the person that was driving the car at the time of the wreck is not me but they're telling me that if I don't provide a bill of sale then I am on the hook for $32,000. I looked up the firm and it has MANY complaints about fake claims with similar back stories. After i read that I forgot about it and figured I'd look into it more if i got another call... That call came today. This time they also told me that they have a police report. I asked them to send it to me and she said she would but that it would take a couple days. I don't have $32,000.. that's a hair less than my salary. If anyone has any advice i would love to hear it.
