My father has been diagnosed with a disease that could result in him dying anywhere between now and the next three years. I have been helping my parents to get his things in order, like writing down his will, and help to prep the house for sale. Medical bills are piling up, and more expensive procedures are still ahead. The preliminary research of life insurance tells that there are basically two types of policies: ones that require health examination, and ones that don't, but have a minimum of two years before taking effect.

My dad doesn't want a fancy funeral, but even the cheapest options are not exactly cheap. I would like some advice on preparing for the funeral expenses that may or may not be needed soon.
