I just found out that a freezer I have owned for 10 years was manufactured in 1967. The best guess I have found is that it uses somewhere around 2200 kWh/yr, a HUGE amount which means the freezer is over $20/mo to use on it's own.

It looks like I will be replacing it and found one at Lowe's which seems like a similar size for $477 and uses around 400 kWh/yr, and the freezer should pay for itself in only 2 years.

That means that if I replaced my freezer when I moved in, I could have gotten a new one, had it break and lose $300 worth of food, then buy a second freezer, had IT break and lose $300 worth of food, then BOUGHT A 3RD FREEZER and STILL come out with spending over $300 less in spending than having kept the original freezer.

Just a heads up to everyone that just because an old appliance works doesn't mean it shouldn't be retired.
