Hello! First time poster here.
I'm 25 and in dire need of braces. But BEFORE I can get braces, I'm told I need to get all 4 wisdom teeth removed (probably why my teeth are so overcrowded). I have health insurance through my father but just found out we don't have dental. So, here is what I know so far:
1) I can get dental insurance and not get any work done until after the 6-12 month waiting period for services. I don't know how much insurances pay out for braces though...
2) I can get one of those dental savings discount plans.
I guess my question is, is it better to get dental insurance since I'm going to have so much costly work done? Can I negotiate some kind of cost reduction with my dentist because of that? I make less than 30k a year and live on my own right now, so money will be tight for awhile until I can pay off my existing debts (which will be sometime in April).
Other options or advice when picking insurance or discount plans would be amazing. I have no experience with either and want to save a much money as I can during this expensive process. Thank you so much for reading!
EDIT: I also forgot to mention I do have one of those CareCredit accounts with a 1,500 cap. I'm currently paying off 1,100 on it from previous dental work.
