I was online looking for tickets to an event and even going to the stadium website was charging me extra money for fees. I went to the arena in person and got the tickets $20 cheaper than anywhere online. Site than shall not be named was charging a $15 "processing fee" and a $5 "service fee" for the same ticket.
I work in downtown metro and can easily walk to arena after work but it wont cost anyone extra if you have a monthly metro pass.
Those companies have a monopoly on ticket sales but it's still possible to buy in person at the box office
