I'm a college student that works 40 hours a week that is going to be getting an apartment with a friend soon. Rent is 800 (includes most utilities) so split between the two of us it'd be 400 each. I own a car, but insurance is about 200 a month, gas about 100, so that's 700 right there. I figure if I budget my food really well I can spend about 200 on it at the most a month, so that's 900. I'd say other necessities would be about 100 a month, things like hygiene products, stuff for cleaning, etc. That'd leave me with 200 left over for whatever, most of which I would hope to just save.

Is this realistic? Anyone else live like this?
