Has anyone spent much time looking into GSV Capital ($GSVC) before, as a way for average investors to get exposure to private / VC-backed companies?
They are a publically traded company which invests in private companies, such as Palantir, Dropbox, Spotify: http://ift.tt/2leiMqu
Right now my portfolio is purely split between various broad index ETFs, and I am debating whether $GSVC could serve as an additional diversifier, by giving some exposure to VC. Although $GSVC is not technically an ETF, it has some similarities given the company purely exists to invest in other companies.
I would only put a very small allocation towards this idea (maybe 3-5% of the equity component of my portfolio) but am curious if others have any thoughts on this idea.
