I currently live in a major city and have never been happier. My employer is making me move to a pretty boring town next month though. I'm really not too happy about the change, mostly because I love living in the city. I am trying to decide between two apartments. The first one is in the middle of nowhere, but is 1.5 miles from the little downtown strip where there are shops and a few restaurants. The second one is one block away from downtown, but is $500 more each montj. I feel like the second one would let me feel a little happier about the move because at least I can retain some of my current habits, like walking to the grocery store, etc, but $500 feels like a lot of money just for that convenience.
My income is somewhere around $250k and both apartments are a tiny fraction of my income, so both are really affordable.
Would you pay $500/month more to live near civilization?
