The market optimism has been unprecedented since Trump won the presidency, and I think it's fair to say that his victory has played a role in this optimism. Given the uncertainty surrounding his role as president, I don't think this optimism is very well-founded and I believe the VIX will undergo a significant rise once Trump takes office and people realize things might not be as great as they thought. My idea is not that Trump's presidency will be bad, just that Trump's presidency will fall short of making things different right away, and the optimism will fall once people realize things aren't going to change immediately.
Does anyone agree? Anyone have any different ideas?
