I'm looking to buy a cheap laptop (<$300) and make a few improvements to make it run faster for spreadsheet processing, image editing, etc. What small steps can I do to help me?
Some thoughts off the top of my head:

Add some memory separately
-
Replace regular harddrive with SSD
Anything else I can do that can generically improve performance?
