I live in the US and am a US citizen living in TN. Recently I've been reading about creating a LLC for the purpose of personal investing. They seem to be popular with people that own property but I'm more interested in their use in other forms of investing. I read that several wealthy people including Bill Gates use an LLC for investing.
So assuming a sole owner LLC, using their own money for investments, and investing in the expected mix of stocks, bonds, and other investment vehicles. Also assume this isn't to skirt the law or invest in anything shady.
Given this scenario, what are the advantages or disadvantages, if any, of using such an LLC for investing instead of doing it as an individual?
