Just wanted to give a quick update. In November of 2015 I posted (under a different username) about asking for a raise at work. I was the office manager at the small business I work at, and instead of giving me a raise, my boss offered to let me train to be the new salesman, saying that I could double my income if I was working on commission out in the field. PF was understandably skeptical, but after working all of 2016 in sales, I just found out exactly how much I made and my boss was pretty close to right. When I was working as the office manager I pulled in $45k. Last year was a down year for the company (our gross income was $200k less than we were hoping, mainly due to a lot of economic anxiety in our region / industry, which is heavily dependent on the oil & gas sector) but I still made $75k. The extra money has completely changed my life, before this I didn't have any savings and a couple months ago I was actually able to pay cash for a great piece of land, which never would have been possible before. Just wanted to let y'all know that things worked out quite well with the new position. I have to work nights 2 or 3 times a month now, but overall I'm actually putting in less hours than I was as office manager feel that I have a much better skill set / resume should I ever decide to look for a new job. So happy New Year, guys! Thanks for reading.
