So I'm about to be 18. And honestly my dream is to own my own home. And have some property kinda out in the country (a few acres). Now my question is what's the cheapest way to get a house? Here's my 3 plans
1, buy a pre existing home with some property. PROS that I see is you have everything you need already there you can just move right in. CONS market cost, possible repairs needed after moving in. Possibly having to deal with a lot more laws about what I can do on my property.
2 buying the land raw, and putting a mobile home or manufactured home on it. PROS cost will most likely be cheaper, also less laws about what I can do on my property (cause it will be more secluded), also I can choose between different designs. CONS don't retain value (which is OK because I plan on keeping it forever or handing it down when I grow older) another con is its not immediately move in ready it will take a little while to get situated.
3 buy the raw land. And build my own house, or have the main parts built (foundation, frame, electric) and do the rest myself. PROS design is completely up to me I can litteraly create a dream home. CONS will take much longer time to do.
So what do you all think? These pros and cons I put are just from my perspective that I can think of right now. Feel free to add anything you want.
But what would be the best option? I really want to save money and create a home. If I design my own house and build it, it wouldn't cost too much just because I would design a small cozy house. Like 2 bedrooms. 600-800 square feet. 1 floor. With a porch. Pretty damn simple.
