I got my first real job about 5 years ago and have been here ever since.
I got a job offer out of the blue with another company in the field of work I work in, and I met with them and they offered to hire me.
They asked what I'd like to be paid, and they agreed to meet that ( starting at 2k more a year than I made last year with bonus's and stuff )
I'm thinking about taking the job, but met with my current jobs HR to ask some questions about leaving and word got to my boss.
They asked if there is anything they could do to help keep me here, and i'm not sure if I should try to press them for more money.
I don't dislike my current job, i'm not unhappy, but I do need to make more money. I don't know if I should try to see if they can match or beat the new companies offer.
I have crap self confidence, and am a pretty loyal person. I'd hate to leave the job i'm at now as I know they need me here but its hard to pass up an opportunity to make more money, but at the same time I'd be giving up my pretty secure job in a big company to go to a small company where the risk of being layed off is much higher.
I've also been feeling pretty crappy about my life over the past year, and am hoping a new job may give me a new sense of self worth. I've just never really hopped around in the professional world and am a bit apprehensive.
