Hi, is it possible to have a credit card charged before you get it in the mail and never bother to activate it? I ask because I am now being contacted by collections to pay for the debt on a Gap Visa credit card that I signed up for long time ago, but never used nor activated. I foolishly signed up for the card because I was told I would get a major discount on my purchase if I signed up, but nether thought a charge would actually be placed on it prior to being activated. When I look on my credit report, I do see a charge on the card on the first month it was issued and started accruing penalty fees for non-payments. I can’t find any articles on this subject. Im just hoping for some feedback to see if this sounds right or not.

Thanks!

Note: There is also no yearly fee for the card.
