A few years ago we invested in a small mutual fund and went with Franklin Templeton at the suggestion of our bank (mistake). After spending time on here, I've come to the conclusion that we need to move it to Vanguard. The account at this point doesn't have much in it. I held off adding to it because of the Dow drop the past couple years where the value of the account had gone lower than what we initially invested into it. Now that it's back up, I'd like to dump FT and move it but I'm unsure of the easiest way to go about it.

At first, I was just going to sell the shares, essentially "take the money and run" but I'm not sure if that is the best route to go with or if there is a better way to do it. Right now, this particular is shy of $3000 which is what I believe is needed to open one with Vanguard. I'll make up the difference as I plan on adding some more into the account myself anyway when we open it but if there is a way to just roll it over into Vanguard, I don't know if there would be a way to manually add funds at the same time from my bank.

Any information on the best way to go about doing this would be greatly appreciated
