I am not sure why more people do not use it, but jet.com (a competitor to Amazon, acquired by Walmart now) has a program called Jet Anywhere where you can purchase anything from any of their partner websites (includes Expedia, Hertz, Nike etc) and just forward them the order confirmation email and they give you a percentage of the order as credits to use on their website- no minimum purchase necessary (minimum purchase necessary for free shipping though). For travel related bookings they ask you to send them proof of travel, but its practically free money. I have probably received $200 from them over the last year or so mostly through my airlines, car rental bookings.
