There are tiny brown ants in my kitchen (and bathroom) as well as every other apartment in several buildings. The complex management has sent exterminators to try to get rid of them, and I've been putting down gel bait while waiting for them to make another round. (I have been warned to not use spray-- it'll make them divide the nest and make the problem far worse.) But I don't think they're going to be entirely gone anytime soon. My attempts at keeping them away haven't been very effective.

They've found the tea cabinet and got into the sugar and honey; the pantry is probably next. And honestly, it's probably best in the long term to put things like flour and rice and sugar into some form of canister anyway.

Zip-lock bags would work, but if I'm putting money into this I'd prefer something more durable for long term storage. What are some inexpensive, but effective ways to keep the ants out? (I repeat, these are TINY ants-- you could probably fit three end to end on a grain of rice-- so it needs to be a very secure seal. I found some in the threads of the honey bottle's screw cap.)
