I am 18 and I've been very depressed about life since starting high school because I am really not into the "get a job and work 40 hours a week after you graduate" lifestyle at all. I think about suicide almost all the time because of this. I ended up dropping out of high school. Recently it hit me that that is not the only lifestyle out there (no idea why I didn't come up with it earlier). For example, I can budget my expenses wisely, and only work half a year to save up to spend for the next half of the year without having to work. From there, I discovered minimalism and r/simpleliving and I am in love. I would really appreciate some advice from you guys. Here are some things about me and what I want:

·English is my main language, I live in New York City but I am fluent in Chinese and have a citizenship in China.
·I have a passion for music. One of my main motivations for wanting to do this is to have time to work on my music by having to work less.
·My goal is to work as little as possible so I have as much free time as possible to work on my own projects.
·My parents are supporting me at the moment and likely won't kick me out in less than 2 years.
·Here's my very rough plan: Get a restaurant job (which is in good demand in NYC, and both my parents work in Chinese restaurants). It will make me anywhere from 2k - 3k a month. A single room in NYC ranges from $700-$1000. $300 for food is enough. Cell phone plan is about $10 and internet about $50. Plus $40 miscellaneous and that's $1100 - $1400 spendings a month and I save $600 - $1600. Work as little as possible in a year to save up enough to take off the rest of the year to live in China, where cost of living is cheaper, and work on my music there. Rinse and repeat every year.
·Any skills I should get that will greatly benefit me?
·College is out of the question since I don't plan to dedicate my life to a specific career so the cost won't justify it. But I am open to suggestions.
·Military is out of question because I don't want to be drafted and I will lose Chinese citizenship.

Any suggestion is appreciated. Thanks :)
