My dad gave me a leather couch (his wife redecorates every few years and reap the rewards of it) it's probably ten years old and the cushions haven't flattened or broken down at all. I believe it's Pottery Barn and I would like to keep it a very long time! I haven't taken care of it and it's starting so show a bit of wear. I've cleaned stains (marker from my lovely 6 year old) with alcohol and put a bit of oil in it (I don't really know what I'm doing with oil) but it still looking dry and flakey I guess is the way to describe it. I know it's not reversible but I would like to start caring for it now so I can minimize wear in the future. What products should I use?

I'm about to put the couch in a garage for storage for a year or so. I wonder if I should oil it extra, get a slip cover? I'll be able to check on it, and my other stuff, often.

Thanks for any advice. I've been trying to Google this but just haven't found the info I need.
