I just got a job offer from a startup that has been in business for three years. They low-balled me as per standard operating procedure. My current salary is ~$35K and is in a different field. I am barely making it on that. No extra left at the end of the month. They titled the position offered "Customer Service Technician", however, during the interview process they laid out that I would be building their currently non-existent Customer Service Department. Up to and including writing policy and scripts to follow, picking and vetting computer applications to integrate and eventually grading for quality assurance. The offer they gave for salary was $37K for the first 3 months then increase to $40k. Paid Holidays, vacation of 4weeks per year, no Insurance. Taxes are withheld by the company. Additionally I will have to move 3 hours from my current location. My spouse has not found a job in the area yet so in the mean time I'll have to have separate housing until we can all get moved out there.
