Long time lurker/rare poster. So i am writing this here because i feel you guys are reasonable folk who spend their money and their time wisely, so i would value your feedback. But if you know a better sub where i wouldn't get snotty batshit crazy advice, i will happily move. Short version: i want to write a complaint letter. Internet advice says state what you want done. What i want is compensation (and thus far lacking acknowledgement of the inconvenience) for my time and trouble, particularly given the upfront cost of a major appliance...but i am not sure how specific to make a request or what to specifically ask for that is reasonable.

Full story:

I recently purchased a new model of a major appliance (front load washer and base), and i specifically upgraded and bought this model because it could be modified to a non-standard configuration that would work much better in my quirky 95 year old house. This is apparently a new feature. The appliance was delivered on time but not configured as ordered, and its taken 4 teams coming out and looking at it and not fixing it, before someone officially said it would have to go to the warehouse for adjustments and be redelivered. With the new appointments for pick up and delivery, this will be 6 saturdays we will have had to schedule around this purpose and i will have spent several hours on the phone with various managers. At this point i would like to be compensated for my time and inconvenience

  1. I have heard that writing to the ceo is the most effective. Anybody have suggestions or experience? Would the local district manager be better?

  2. What do i ask for? I am thinking of asking for store credit equal to the value of the warrenty/maintenance plan we purchased (because well someone, potentially several someones is/are going to be learning on my machine...the original plan was to cancel it at the end of the year grace period if we didnt have any problems - this was about 10% of the purchase price, but also equal to about 5 hrs of my time at my pay grade at work) or asking that the warrenty term be extended at no cost to us (value at about 5% of total purchase cost).

Is this reasonable? Do you have any other suggestions.

Thank you for reading and your advice!
