Hello, I've recently turned 18. I want to take control of my money. I have a lot of questions and would appreciate some personal input. My questions are:
• Should I start with a brick and mortar account, online bank, or credit union?
• What are the different types of accounts I could utilize, and which would be the best option in your opinion?
• Wise or unwise to get a credit card and begin to build a credit score, and if I should, what all is there to know when doing so?
• Tips on getting the most out of my money would also be a appreciated.
• Anything I haven't thought of that I should be asking or thinking about please let me know.
I'm completely inexperienced other than an old savings account co signed by my father. Picked up the habit of writing down every transaction I've made In person (Since I haven't had a credit/debit card.)
I make roughly 1100-1200 a month now, and am not going to be in college for another 6-8 months, so no bills other than car insurance and the only main expenses I have are car wise. (Gas, oil, etc.)
Really could use guidance here. Thanks!
(P.s. I know google is a thing.. hoping for personal input as I'm not totally able to grasp everything.)
