Background: my boyfriend and I knew that he would need major surgery this year, so we signed him up under my employer-provided insurance as my domestic partner.
Now the surgery is happening and the bills are starting to accrue. We received the elegibility enrollment materials in the mail earlier this year and are sitting down to do it now. We are in the process of opening a joint checking account to satisfy the "bank statement" requirement for proof of joint ownership; and will submit drivers licenses showing the same address as proof of joint residence.
My question is: do these documents have to document that the partnership began before Jan 1, 2017 (the initial coverage date)?
