Last November, Cox doubled the cost of my basic internet package (15 MBPS) to $60 a month because the '12 month introductory rate for new members' expired. I am fortunate to live in an area where another ISP provides fiber-optic connection, and they quoted $20 a month for 50 MBPS.
I called Cox to cancel my internet and they offered 150 MBPS for $60 a month. What this means is that they were charging the cost of their fastest internet while providing lowest-tier speeds. It seems like a good idea to call them once a year to get better pricing on your internet.
