Anyone recall, what were the main reasons that the Euro Stoxx 50 index surged 25% (from 3042 to 3816) in just a 3-month period in 2015? (January 9, 2015 to April 10th, 2015)? And what caused it to give back all those gains in the next 10 months? (dropped back down to 2756)?

Thanks in advance to anyone who can answer this. I know there is probably no cut-and-dried answer but there must have been some overarching principles at play to cause such drastic moves in such short timeframes.
