This makes sense, Amazon has been moving into fashion and this would score them big political points.
Sewing is difficult to automate and still requires many humans. Amazon can buy American Apparel, look good by "saving jobs", and then gradually replace the workers with robots. A vertically integrated Amazon Fashion could potentially disrupt parts of the industry.
