Hypothetical: what happens to investments held at a bank if the bank goes down?

Let’s say you have a brokerage account at bank xyz. Then bank xyz suffers a fate similar to SVB. Are your investments gone? And would if matter if you held stocks, etfs, money market accounts, treasuries?

Please don’t roast this post. There is a lot of panic and misinformation out there. Trying to understand this worst case scenario.
