I don't shop at Costco often enough to bother with a membership, but I do occasionally. Like twice a year. You can shop there with a gift card, so I just have my mother in law buy me 5 $10 gift cards. Then when I do want to go and shop I just show the card at the door and at the check out, but you aren't limited to only spending $10
