I was looking into some heavily shorted stocks (more or less) when I came upon $REI, an oil drilling and natural gas company. You can go look at the chart, but basically it was high around 2014 and 2018 and now it's pretty low. I checked the financials. In the recent quarters, the company made well over what they had in 2018. From what I can tell, this drop after 2018 wasn't a correction, because the company currently has a P/E of 1.14. I looked for news about it but couldn't find any. What's going on here?
P.S It should be noted that they do have a bunch of debt.
