I have banked with Wachovia that became Wells Fargo for 26 years. Following a check of my account, over 60% of the account is just gone… a unauthorized, unsigned, falsely generated check had been issued and funds transferred to someone else. No notification, no alerts triggered.

The check was unsigned and unauthorized. Yes, I’m stating this again… as apparently the understanding that you need to authorize it even endorse a check is false? For Wells Fargo if you have a name and an account number you’re in. It’s open season on whatever you’d like to withdrawal. Who cares if they can’t pay rent, if it was $1k, $5k, $50k?!?!?! I’m sorry to me a banks job was to be more secure than a mattress. I’ll get back to this….

So the check…. It’s not a good forgery, in fact there’s no attempt at forgery -a signature or to make it look like a sequenced check I use. It’s all text boxes copy+paste on a flawless, computers like white background. You can tell cause each text box has gray granulation. It was check number 00001. No one at the bank has been able to tell me if it was deposited in person, at an atm or just uploaded into my account. The only correct information on me is my name and the full account number. The address is wrong…. I just can’t process the incompetence. Lastly I cannot find proof the “payed to” even exists and does not match the information on the back of the check.

So I called and reported Wells Fargo fraud. Simple right? No. Absolutely the worst experience of… I’m not sure if it’s incompetence, lack of training, or pressures from Wells Fargo to have service members kick you off the phone.

Day one- was given a case number and told it would be 7-10 days. Day two- called back to discuss and see if I could add some details as mentioned above. Was told again it would be 7-10 days, but he verified multiple alerts were setup to include “one to stop deposit of unsigned checks” Day three- called because the Wells Fargo app linked to a second fraud check. Was told a second case was opened. Day six- called for progress and was told for thirst timE it would be 30 days and there was a form in the mail I had to fill out and return. Asked to speak with a manager regarding this process.. waited 45 minutes and multiple times, no manager available. Spoke with the Escalation team… helped but told to talk in person…

I made an appointment and ended up a branch for 3.5 hours… same discussions, maybe the investigator will call me.. was told Wells Fargo does have a timeline to work these type cases.

Honestly I’m starting think this someone in Wells Fargo who did this, just concerning on how it’s been handled. Not sure if anyone will see this post, but forget credit score impacts close your account asap. I am not a banker nor finically guru, just lost 60%

As of today I filed with the CFPB per old postings
