I've just moved to a rather high COL area (bay area) and am currently wanting to sell my car.
It is totally paid off and carmax will give me 19k for it (paid 21k brand new, has 60k miles now). It costs 250(parking)+100(insurance)+ gas (6.50ish a gallon) per month along with the added constant stress of owning a car in the Bay area. I have lived here 1 month and have used the car 3 times, all of which could have been done with rideshare apps or car share apps, and driving here is a huge chore.
I take the bus to and from work and all the public transport I need is less than a hundred yards from my apartment. Grocery stores are also within a few minutes walk from me, I honestly don't know why I need the car now.
I literally just paid it off so I feel weird selling it, but it would also eliminate all my current credit card debt (10k) and set me up with a really nice savings cushion.
