Hi PF Redditers, could use some advice here. So last night my Ticketmaster account was hacked and someone purchased $2,000 tickets to a Justin Bieber concert in Nashville in 5 days.
The strange thing is that they did not use one of my saved payment methods. They instead added a new card and used that to purchase the tickets.
I then suddenly started getting a ton of weird emails. Like 30-40 every minute. They were clearly spam. A lot of them were in different languages.
After googling, I found out this is called "mailbombing" and scammers do this to bury legitimate emails from you, most often to hide purchases.
I could still log in to my Ticketmaster account so I immediately changed the password and deleted all of the saved payment methods (including the new one that was added). I also changed the password for all of my other accounts that use that email/password combination (thank you 1Password).
I also have not had any fraudulent transactions on any of my debit/credit cards or PayPal. So, as of right now, I have $2000 tickets to a Justin Bieber concert in my Ticketmaster account that I did not pay for. The mailbombing also stopped this morning. I am very confused and not sure what to do in this situation. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, thanks!
