Hi everyone!
I am 25, and have absolutely NO savings. I really would appreciate some guidance in the right direction. My parents had opened a savings account for me as a kid but drained it completely and I never saw any of it. My mom had convinced me to sell my life insurance when I was in college in order to pay rent and ended up taking all of it except for what I needed that month to pay my bills so I don’t have that either… Pretty much 99% of all my money is in a checking account. My credit score is 755 and I never miss a payment.
I work full time, 46 hours a week, with a very consistent schedule. I have full health benefits through my job. They do not offer a retirement plan nor do they match since they’re small/newer. Our boss says he’s been trying to set up the 401k but hasn’t been able to finalize/implement it — just said it’s in the works and he’s doing what he can.
DEBT I have ~$4000 in credit card debt over 3 cards. 2 of them are used for 12 month no interest financing on purchases. I only ever use the “regular” credit card for emergencies and am easily able to pay it off/keep the balance to under $500. I have about $8000 in student loans. I also have a car loan, about halfway paid off.
I am a first-generation American so my family is of no help for advice. Researching online just throws me into circles because there’s so many contradicting advice about what to do and who to go with. I want to invest my money and save but I genuinely have no idea where to start :(.
