So I currently teach in Arizona where I am eligible to receive a lifetime benefit (pension) at age 53.5. When you do the math, the earlier you retire, the more you generally get by the time you die. My family is looking to move to Virginia where I would have to work until 62, 9 more years than would be in Arizona. Also, after calculating it, my retirement would be much less than my monthly benefit in Arizona,
I looking for tips and advice because my wife’s family is Virginia and she really want to move. I am stuck because I want to move also but don’t want to work longer and for less pay.
Anyone have experience with these systems?
