TLDR: my father is being overworked and unpaid and has health issues from the job.

So I’m 16 and my dads been working at this factory from when his was 20, to now at 39.

Last year, company drops to a skeleton crew because of COVID. YAY! Dads been waiting all those years for redundancy! And oh boy, his payout would have been a LOT. Except when he hands in his form, boss laughs and said ‘naww.. that better not- haha oh Andy.. come onnn now…” my dad says his being serious. Boss replies “well I’m sorry butI can already say it’s a no. You’re our most valuable worker’.

Skip a year later, company was sold because it was going under. His job is supposed to be just head of the yard. Expect, he is expected to train the mid working in the gatehouse(who is taking a WHILE to pick it up), fixes the machines inside, fill in for anyone that takes a day off AND the new bosses want to cut back on expenses so they expect the workers to MOW THE LAWN in their free time. Their crew is BARE BONES and at least once a week someone has a sick day. He is expected to spend overtime at manager meetings even though he isn’t paid that salary, nor his he paid for staying later.

On top of that, his developed this terrible cough from the factory. It’s hard trying to sleep at night and hear your father coughing up death in the room next to you.

He has carpentry, electrical and automotive skills. People have commented that he could easily swap to these careers as he has the skills. Problem is, he doesn’t have that little certificate PROVING he has the skills or experience.

Is there anyway I can help him?
