Hey everyone,

I'm a self-employed hairdresser. In 2020, I worked in a salon, but it went belly up like many others, and now I'm flying solo. I have a list of clients who mostly pay cash and don't write checks (many of them are elderly). My current apartment building is closing due to extensive remodeling, and I'm forced to look for a new place.

I found a pretty decent studio apartment smack in the middle of the district where most of my clients live, and I want to take it, but the landlord has asked for paystubs for the last 3 months to make sure I can pay rent. I've explained that I do fairly well, am self-employed, and don't always receive checks, but he doesn't want to hear about it. He says he doesn't want to get screwed and will not make any exceptions because even decent-looking tenants sometimes fail to pay rent, and he's sick of it.

I've looked for options where I can get these pay stubs, and apparently, you can generate them online, and there are even sites for it, like https://www.thepaystubs.com/, but the problem is - I need checks to create them.

So now I'm faced with a choice either to lie and create fake pay stubs and get the place (I'm confident that I can pay rent) or to let it go and look for another one where the landlord doesn't require them.

I really want to rent this place because it's cozy, the location is perfect, and it's a quiet neighborhood without noisy neighbors.

So my question is whether there is a way to create these pay stubs without checks somehow. I do have a small sum in my bank account, and my credit score is perfect. I managed to stay afloat during quarantine thanks to my brother and parents, who were kind enough to support me financially and mentally. A friend told me to ask my brother to rent the place for me, but I don't want to ask him for this and burden him further. I need to find a way to do it myself. Any advice or tips will be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance, guys.
