I had a doctor appointment at a random minute-clinic and they did bloodwork for me (annual test, nothing out of the ordinary). They asked if I wanted them to call me with the results and I said sure.
The nurse called me and said all bloodwork looked good and the call lasted about 1 minute. I then received a bill for $200 for a follow up tele-health appointment? I called and told them to void it out because there was NO appointment and they were simply giving me the results that I paid for! They submitted it to my insurance already and my insurance paid half of this bogus bill, and the clinic wanted the other $100 from me. Total BS.
I called and explained that there was no appointment and basically go the same canned response that they'd look into it. I called repeatedly and got different reps in their billing department that clearly could not understand the situation. Eventually, it made it to collections and I told them the same story. They said they'd look into it and once again no result. Well this week I checked my credit and I went from around 805 to like 670. I clicked the details and it appears they reported the same thing twice?
I'm looking for a house right now and was about to get pre-approved for a mortgage. I disputed it with one of the credit bureau's but I have to wait up to 30 days. Is there anything I can do to speed this up? At this point I'm willing to pay whatever it costs...I'm in the process of looking for a 600-700k mortgage...
I should have just paid the damn $100 but I stuck by my principles and now it's going to cost me a lot of money on my mortgage if I don't get it corrected. I feel stubborn for not paying it but I don't care if it was $10...if there was no appointment I don't owe them money!!
TLDR:
-Went to doctor visit and got blood work
-Paid both of those bills
-Doctors office tries charging me $100 for calling me with bloodwork results, dispute it with them and they send to collections. It's listed twice on my credit score for the same bill
-Credit score went from 800 to 670 as a result
