I am planning on taking my family on a weekend vacation to cut our own tree for Christmas. I have saved a but only have found vehicles that were way to nice looking for off-roading and they were 600 a day or so. I am looking for a way to rent a 4x4 that will hold 4 people and I won't have to worry about strapping a tree to the top or throwing it in the bed for a reasonable price point. I do not need any semblance of luxury, but am more concerned with safety on icy roads on the off chance we get a storm. I live in New Mexico and plan to drive from ABQ to Taos, whick is a 3-4 hour drive.
