Holy smokes. Got rid of my credit card about a month ago and it has completely changed the way I spend my money.
I used to just buy whatever I wanted, whenever I wanted it, because I could. I had an enormous credit limit and could get anything I desired, and push the payment to my future self. Then the end of every month would come and I would be left wondering how I had spent so much.
Now, I take my time with purchases. If I don't need something right away, I'm happy to wait until the next payday or until I can really afford it without putting myself into debt.
I understand credit cards are very necessary for some people, and there can definitely be drawbacks to not having one. But if you want a great way to instantly and dramatically decrease your spending, and make you a much more conscious consumer, get rid of that plastic!
