I've been a personal investor with Vanguard for over 5 years, largely due to low fees and their solid reputation. However, I recently wanted to send an email, preferring a written response for records. Any attempt to locate "contact" aside from the general customer service phone number has been erased from their website. If you click any old links (the "contact us" on their Facebook site, the "connect with us" Vanguard logo, google searches which still identify older versions of pages), you are now directed to a generic Vanguard "type in a search term" help database, where I haven't been able to find anything useful.
No online chat, no email contacts...only a phone number and generic Amazon-style "make it hard to access customer support"???? I expected better from Vanguard.
At least you can do online chats with Fidelity. I'm seriously considering moving brokerages if Vanguard is attempting to obscure means of written customer support. I don't mind being forced to work through a FAQ search, but at the end, I think there should be an option for email or online chat.
Sorry if people consider this inappropriate for the sub, but I know many r/personalfinance members use Fidelity or Vanguard for investment choices. I suppose I can call during their business hours and ask for an email contact or something, but I typically work on financials late at night, so it's annoying. Honestly, this is really just a rant and general frustrations with companies that make it hard to communicate electronically and/or feel like a valued customer.
