Hi guys! Long time lurker here. I’ve been WFH even before the pandemic started, and my major problem since then is privacy. I’m 27 and still live with my family (I’m Asian if that matters) and I also need to take care of my cancer-stricken dad from time to time. We also live with 3 kids at home which disrupts my focus and productivity. As much as I want to move out, I personally think that it’s a waste of money considering that I’ll only end up paying for rent instead of a mortgage.
The thing is, we have a 50 sqm lot that’s not being used. I have this idea of building a small space which will be my home office but outsourcing contractors and carpenters sounds a bit of a hassle. I’m planning to shell out $23k for a pre-made workpod which will only take a day to set up. About my WFH job, it pays me around $10k/mo. Is this worth it? Does this count as an investment since it can contribute to my job? TIA!
