Let me briefly describe my situation:
I just graduated university. I have recently started working at a credit union and currently make $60,000 a year. I plan to stay with this company for as long as I can.
My take home pay after taxes, health insurance and 401k is 1500 semi monthly. My tuition payments don't start until 2023 but I want to get started paying them off. I owe 50,000 at 8%. My parents will pay half of my tuition but they won't make payments until 2023. I also have just under $18,000 in my savings. My only monthly payments are my phone, car and insurance which all together is ~$500 a month. While I love my family, I think it's time to move out; also my commute is starting to get pretty brutal.
My question is: how much can I afford to pay monthly and should I purchase a home or rent one?
