Hi everyone I’ve come to a point in my life where I really feel ahead of the game, my liquid net worth is over 130k and I’m 22 years old. I’ve done this by being moderately frugal and getting lucky with a few investments. I’m very interested in machining, welding, electronics, and just making things in general. I feel like having a proper workshop would let me enjoy this more frequently and potentially get good enough to commercialize my hobby. A small shop would likely cost me about 10k dollars to set up initially and then of course tooling and materials would always be costing me money over time.
I am currently weighing what that 10k dollars can bring to me in fulfillment of my hobby vs what it can make me in the market by the time I’m of retirement age. Basically I’m asking if anyone has made a decision like this in the past. What did you decide and why? Would you make the same decision if you had to do it again?
Thanks in advance for y’all’s insightful responses!
